Where I live (upstate New York) there is no specific difference. Dental practices generally pay different wages from 25-35/hr. @ The upper end can be expected that the cleaning to be done every 30 minutes and basically every hour cleaning ... (General)
In my field of pediatrics, dentists often hire hygienists, because the children do not really need a thorough cleaning, as well as adults. Very few children have the extension than in most adults, that remove the tartar to accumulate. Dentists usually use wax EFDA dental assistants do much, unless hygienist. Oh, I'm in Oregon
